Paul Wesley, born Tomasz Wasilewski, originally hails from New Brunswick, New Jersey. He grew up in Marlboro Township, New Jersey, and early in life found success on the small screen. He began professionally acting his junior year in high school in 1999, as Max Nickerson in the soap opera, Guiding Light, the longest running drama in American television history. He remained on the show until 2001. From there, he appeared in over 10 movies, over 20 television shows, and was a co-lead in two stage plays.
He is known most for playing Stefan, the good vampire brother in the television series, The Vampire Diaries. This series has been notable to his career. Through his work on the series, he has been nominated for over ten Teen Choice Awards, winning two awards in 2010, as well as winning two Young Hollywood Awards, both in 2010 and 2014. Additionally, he has directed and produced multiple episodes of the series.
Still active in the industry, Wesley remains hard at work. He acted in and produced the 2014 indie drama, Before I Disappear. This was his producer’s debut. In the same year, he also starred in the romantic comedy, Amira and Sam. Both films were considered successful, and garnered numerous nominations and wins for a variety of film festival awards. In 2016, Wesley was a co-lead in the stage play, Cal in Camo, which was his New York stage debut. As only his second professional stage play, his efforts didn’t go unnoticed, as the production was generally well-received. A man of many talents, Paul Wesley continues to make his mark on the highly competitive television and film industry.
